Baby Greens Family Farm is excited to announce that we have entered into an amazing partnership with Gleaning Urban Farm, which is an extension of Peter’s Rock Church of God in Christ. The best part of this partnership is that Gleaning shares our vision and passion to develop a farm operation right in the city of Gary, that we all love. In addition to growing food we will be hosting educational programs, conducting research projects, promoting regenerative practices, and creating collective opportunities for other small farmers to help one another. We’re planning to do all of this while growing healthy foods directly in the city of Gary. Our hope is to grow lots of food to lessen Gary’s status as a food desert.
Right now our new space is a beautiful blank canvas filled with possibilities. Our teams have been meeting this entire winter and into spring to make a plan that speaks to the spirit of all of our goals and intentions to create a regenerative and self-sustaining growing space.
Here, at 2765 Van Buren Street, we begin the process of documenting this journey. We’ll keep updating you with all that we learn as we go with the hope you become inspired to grow food as well.
